The Big Parade
RULES and regulations
The goal of THE BIG PARADE is to celebrate our freedoms and Country’s Independence in a safe and respectable way for all our visitors, parade goers, and entries. To help guide us all and to ensure that we have a great opportunity to achieve the goal we ask all entries to abide by the following rules and regulations:

Parade entries are not allowed to throw, toss, or shoot into the crowd, from any vehicle (moving or standing) any candy, water, or other giveaways items. Entries caught throwing items, including candy, from any vehicle (moving or standing) will be prohibited from participating in future BIG PARADES.

Children participating in the parade under the age of 16 are not allowed ride in the bucket or on the tire of any tractor, vehicle, or piece of construction equipment.

The use of water guns, blasters, water balloons, or other items that shoot or project water into the crowd are strickly prohibited during the parade.

Animals are allowed in the parade. Parade entries with animals in their entry shall clean up after their animals during parade setup and from the point of the end of the parade until the animals are contained in trailers or vehicles. THE BIG PARADE will provide crews to pick up animal feces during THE BIG PARADE for larger groups of hoofed animals. Smaller animals such as dogs the parade entry shall be responsible for immediate cleanup of any feces along the route.

All animals in the parade must maintain a distance of 10 feet from the parade spectators at all times during the parade. Animals must be under the control of a competent individual at all times during the parade. Animals that are not riding animals must be on a leash not longer than six feet at all times.

At no time shall any animal in the parade be allowed to enter into the spectator area of the parade route.

All animals must be pre-registered.

Fireworks are not prohibited within the City of Storm Lake and are not allowed on or around any parade entry in THE BIG PARADE.
